COVID-19 Return to Play Plan

1)    Introduction:

With the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Toop O Toor Volleyball Club has put necessary steps to enhance our health and safety protocols in advance of the anticipated new normal. We are confident that these protocols will meet and exceed our member and health official’s expectations for us to run programs in a healthy and safe environment. 

2)    Janitorial Protocols:

a)    Enhanced Cleaning Supplies and Equipment:

  • Hand sanitizing dispensers – mounted at entrances 

  • Garbage cans – at entrances and washrooms

  • Sanitizing wipes – at entrances

  • Soap dispensers – mounted inside the washrooms

  • Replacement supplies – facility storage – checked frequently 

 

b)    Public Poster Signage:

  • (Exterior – at entrances) Please do not enter if you are sick

  • (Interior – at entrances) Please use hand sanitizer 

  • (Interior - at entrances) Physical distancing in progress

  • (Interior – at entrances) WorksafeBC Safety Plan

  • (Interior – at entrances) Cover cough and sneezing

  • (Interior – washrooms) Washing instructions

c)     Cleaning Schedule:

The facility will be professionally cleaned regularly in the evenings as follows;

  • Floors – swept and washed

  • Disinfect interior and exterior door handles; all equipment and touch points

  • Disinfect washroom including toilet, mirror and sink

  • Check (and if necessary, replace) paper towels, toilet paper, liquid sanitizer and hand soap

  • Empty garbage cans 

 

3)    Practice and Renter Protocols:

 

a)    Cleaning Schedule of Major Touch Points - before the start of each practice:

  • Disinfect exterior and interior door handles and inside frames

  • Disinfect assigned ball cart & balls

  • Clean top and bottom of nets; posts & antennae straps

  • Wipe down washroom door handles, sink and toilet; dispensers

  • Wipe down sanitizing dispensers & garbage cans 

  • Disinfect any other peripheral coaching aids

 

4)    Practice Rules & Protocols:

 

a)    Participants will NOT be allowed to attend practice if they:

  • Show symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 14 days. Symptoms include fever, chills, coughing, shortness of breath, sore throat, diarrhea and/or new muscle aches or headaches.

  • Show any symptoms of or have a cold or flu.

  • Have been directed by Public Health to self-isolate. 

  • Have recently arrived from outside of Canada or have been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 infected individual and have not been isolated for 14 days.

  • Have not completed the Health Declaration Form prior to the start of camp.

  • Have not passed the Daily Health Declaration Questionnaire.

  • Have not signed the COVID-19 insurance waiver.

  • Have had their temperature checked upon entry and identified with a fever. 

 

b)    Prior to entering the building participants must:

  • Have sent the club a parent signed COVID-19 Insurance Waiver and completed the Health Declaration form.

  • Bring their own name-labelled, water-filled water bottle.

  • Wash their hands thoroughly before leaving home.

 

c)     Prior to the start of each practice:

  • Participants must enter the building from the designated entrance for their practice).

  • Participants must not enter the building until the participants from the previous practice have left the building. Coaches will initiate entry and exit.

  • Participants must clean their hands using hand sanitizer upon entering the building. 

  • Participants are encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizers.

  • Coaches will check the temperature of all athletes upon entering the building.

  • If any participants show signs of illness during check-in, they will be asked to contact their parents immediately and self-isolate from the camp until their parents can pick-up.

  • Coaches will ask all participants health check questions at the start of each practice.

  • Coaches will assign participants cleaning stations to disinfect and clean high-risk touch point surfaces. 

  • Athletes and coaches will have the option to wear the masks during practice. Participants are encouraged to bring their own mask to camp each day. 

  • Separated marked out wall sections, equally spaced out will be assigned for athletes to change, set down their gear and take water breaks. Area must remain organized and clean within each space.

 

d)     During Practice:

  • Each court will be assigned a specific set of balls to reduce equipment sharing.

  • Whenever possible, participants must exercise physical and social distancing (2 meters apart), during drills, particularly during breaks and coach/player group meetings.

  • Participants have the option to wear masks.

  • Participants must avoid close contact socializing.

  • Participants must cover their mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing.

  • Participants should avoid touching their face whenever possible.

  • Participants should wash their hands with sanitizers or soap during breaks.

  • Balls will be cleaned with sanitizing wipes before, during and after each practice.

  • No hand shaking, high fives or hugging between participants and/or coaches.

  • No sharing of water bottles, snacks or towels between participants.

  • Whenever possible, participants will stay on the same court and work with the same partner for each daily session.

  • If any participants show signs of illness during the practice, they will be self-isolated and asked to contact their parents immediately for pick-up.

 

e)    When leaving the practice for the day:

  • Participants must take all of their belongings with them and discard any garbage in the assigned garbage cans. 

  • Participants must wash their hands using hand sanitizers before leaving the building.

  • Parents are not allowed inside the facility during practice and must wait outside for pick-up.

  • Once the participant leaves the building they can’t re-enter.

  • All participants must exit through the designated exit.

f)     Additional Information:

  • Coaches will adhere to the same health and safety restrictions as the participants.

  • The use of the water fountain will not be available to patrons until further notice. 

  • Water station is available for refilling your water bottles.

  • No visitors or spectators allowed, including parents, family and friends.

  • No food or drink (other than water) allowed in the building.
